Farnborough Neighbourcare

Neighbourcare logoEstablished in 1993, this locally based charity aims to bring a helping hand to those in the community who have mobility difficulties and who very often, are unable to make use of public transport either through infirmities or lack of a local service in their area.  Much of the work undertaken by Neighbourcare involves driving old and infirm clients to their hospital, doctor, dentist or chiropody appointments, although we are often called upon to assist younger people with physical disability problems.  In addition we assist in taking clients to local shops, doing a certain amount of simple DIY work and generally taking the place of 'the good neighbour' .

Since the opening of the Triangle in Kingsmead (November 2001), we have used office space on the second floor and from there we are far more accessible to existing and potential clients.  Our telephone is manned each day from 10 a.m. until 12 noon and at all other times we have an answerphone service available, where clients can leave messages.  In conjunction with other similar charities we are always looking for volunteers to assist either in driving clients to appointments or working in the office for just a few hours weekly or monthly.  If you feel that you would like to know more about our work why not give us a ring on 01252 371199 and the duty officer will be pleased to give you further details.

Farnborough Neighbourcare have been presented with the

GOOD NEIGHBOUR AWARD 2005

By Ken Thornber CBE Leader of Hampshire County Council.

The presentation was made on 15th March at the Great Hall Winchester.

This is a significant recognition of the services offered to the
community and it is our aim to continue this social need, with the
help of our existing team of volunteers and we trust the increase in
numbers we urgently need.  A few hours a week/month at times to
suit you would be of great benefit to one and all.
